Eric Schmidt grew up in Burke, and attended Terra Centre Elementary and Robinson High School. After completing his Master’s Degree, Eric moved to Guatemala and then China to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions. Shortly after starting his first business, Eric started an organization for aspiring entrepreneurs in China, and was later elected to the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce. With his experience running a business, he was appointed Chair of the Entrepreneur and Small Business Committee. When Congressional delegations traveled to China to get a better understanding of how our two countries could work together, Eric was who they sought out as an authority on trade relations and the challenges faced by American businesses.
Eric is the CEO and Co-founder of Glue Up, an innovative software company that provides organizations the tools they need to build communities. Today, Glue Up is a global business with employees on five continents, and clients in more than sixty countries. While growing his business, Eric married Olivia and when it came time to raise a family, they decided to move back home to Burke so their son could grow up in the best place in the world to raise a family, Fairfax County.
Today, in addition to running Glue Up, Eric is an involved and active member of the community looking to apply his unique skills to improve lives in the 15th district and beyond. Recently he launched the first iCode franchises in Northern Virginia (Burke and Vienna), STEM centers that teach children to code, develop a passion for technology, and learn the skills that will not just allow them to succeed in the workplace, but will enable them to excel in the global race for the jobs of tomorrow. In his spare time Eric coaches his son’s basketball and lacrosse teams and serves as a homeowner's association President. As someone who has built a global company from the ground up, Eric understands first hand what the government can do to help growing businesses innovate and succeed. Eric looks forward to using his leadership abilities in Richmond to bring folks from all backgrounds and walks of life together, because Eric knows that together we can accomplish real meaningful change for Virginia families.
